Meet The Founder





Mr. Motley specializes in the valuation of businesses and business interests including equity interests, liabilities and debt securities, and intangible assets. He has provided opinions of value for both tax and financial reporting in the context of mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, business and strategic plan reviews, stock-based compensation, business unit performance measurement, litigation support, marital dissolution, dispute resolution procedures, and general advisory purposes.

Mr. Motley has worked with clients across a wide variety of industries such as healthcare services, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, automotive, manufacturing, professional services, construction, real estate, business & consumer services, infrastructure and utilities, financial institutions/insurance, food & agricultural products, retail/wholesale distribution, transportation/logistics and industrial machinery & equipment.

In addition to providing valuation services, Mr. Motley has performed a variety of consulting engagements including fairness opinions, solvency opinions, forensic accounting, financial due diligence, and general board advisory.

Prior to joining Back Office Valuation & Consulting, Mr. Motley was a Principal at Accounting, Economics, and Appraisal Group, a regional litigation support firm in Nashville, Tennessee, where he performed valuations for dissenting and oppressed shareholders. Mr. Motley has held valuation positions at Alvarez & Marsal, Lattimore, Black, Morgan, & Cain, Crosslin & Associates, and UBS Financial Services.

Mr. Motley earned a Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Business Finance from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and a Certificate in Private Capital Markets from the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Mr. Motley is a member of the American Society of Appraisers, the American Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute.
